As a member of The Edge, Elon University’s student-run lifestyle magazine, I gained hands-on experience in editorial writing and magazine layout design. This role deepened my appreciation for visual storytelling and inspired me to create an original magazine spread tailored to Gen Z and Millennial audiences.
This self-initiated design project explores color, photography, texture, and grid layout to craft a compelling call-to-action: shop my personal favorite beauty products, fragrances, and accessories. I leaned into a Y2K-inspired aesthetic, using nostalgic fonts, playful type treatments, and a mix of serif and sans-serif typography to capture the essence of early 2000s print media. My goal was to channel the feeling of flipping through teen magazines in adolescence, while giving it a modern, elevated twist through refined textures, high-end product features, and luxurious design details.
Contributing to The Edge has allowed me to sharpen my trend-spotting instincts, enhance my research process, and refine my editorial voice, all of which informed the visual and written components of this spread.
